Our History

1947 

YAMAMOTO INK Co., Ltd was established as Tsukishima branch in Tsukishima in Tokyo. After that, as color department of Nihon Denshi Sokki Co., Ltd, we developed multi-angle Gloss meter GM-1, portable Gloss meter GM-4, Color vision test table and planned of color management of respective facilities.

1956 

Murakami Color Research Laboratory was established in December 1956. Mr. Shizuo Murakami was formally inaugurated as the founder C.E.O.

1957 

Color vision test for Tokyo Medical University style was published.
Gloss recorder GR-1, Reflectance and Transmittance meter RM-1 and Goniophotometer GP-1 were developed.

1962

Color chart department at Senju factory was established.
Production of color chart was expanded.

1965

The name of town was changed from [10-7 Tsukishima Nishinaka Dori, Chuo-Ku] to [3-11-3 Kachidoki, Chuo-Ku]. The senju factory was integrated to the headquater. Inspection instrument for 40 hue row was developed.

1966

We suggested [Tale・light・brown] for the Kasumigaseki building in Tokyo and then the suggestion was adopted.

1970

The Color Science Association of Japan was established.

1971

Goniophotometer GP-1R was developed.

1973

Color difference meter CD-100 and Gloss meter GM-26D series were developed.

1982 

Mr. Murakami Shizuo received Medals of Honour.
Fast spectrophotometric color meter CMS-35SP was developed.

1984

Our office temporarily moved to Minamisuna-cho, Koto-ku for construction of our new office.

1986

Current office was completed.
Gonio-spectrophotometric color meter GCMS-3 was developed.

1987

Portable gloss meter GMX series and on-line color monitor CMTS-2000 were developed.

1988

Fast spectrophoto color meter CMS-35SP was developed.

1989

Fast spectrophotometric color meter CMS-35FS was developed.

1994

Mr. Akihiro Kondo was formally inaugurated as the C.E.O.

1995

The CMS-35SPX, spectrophotometric color meter for ISO whiteness, was developed.

1997

International Colour Association [AIC97] was held in Kyoto.
Gloss recorder GR-4 was developed.

1999

Haze meter HM-150 was developed.

2000

The entire Toei-Oedo line opened.
The Kachidoki station was established.

2001

Gonio spectrophotometric color measurement system GCMS-10, on-line color monitor CMTS-5000 and goniophotometer GP-500 were developed.

2004

Fast spectrophotometric color meter CMS-43SPXC was developed.

2005

Fast spectrophoto transmittance meter DOT-41 was developed.

2006

Establishment of Murakami Color Research Laboratory 50th Anniversary

2009

Mr. Yoshiharu Sato was formally inaugurated as the C.E.O.

2016

Establishment of Murakami Color Research Laboratory 60th Anniversary
